What is genetic testing, and how does it help in taking proper care of yourself?
DNA does not change throughout your life - it is permanent information about how your body can absorb nutrients, respond to stress, recover from stress, and what conditions you may be predisposed to. A genetic test analyzes this information and provides an explanation: how and why certain processes occur in your body. The test does not replace a doctor - it provides personalized data that you can rely on in health decisions.
What exactly does the Apixmed Prism test analyze, and how does it differ from a blood test?
Routine tests (biochemistry) show the state of the body "here and now." The Apixmed Prism DNA test analyzes your genetic architecture (about 700,000 markers), which is stable throughout life. This is an "instruction manual" for your body, providing insight into the causes of your reactions and predispositions, rather than merely stating the fact of a disease. It is an opportunity to know probabilities and potential risks—and to act proactively.
Where exactly is my DNA being analyzed? Can the results be trusted?
Apixmed Prism exclusively partners with certified laboratories. Today, our reliable partners with many years of expertise are laboratories in Denmark, Germany, and Italy, which use the genotyping method on advanced chips, guaranteeing over 99% accuracy.
If the test shows a bad result, is it already a verdict? Can genetics be changed?
Test results are not a diagnosis or a verdict. We analyze genetic variants that determine your individual predisposition to certain conditions, but do not guarantee their mandatory development. Moreover, most genetic risks are modifiable. That is, you can influence how exactly these genetic variants manifest through epigenetic factors (nutrition, physical activity, and other lifestyle aspects).
What will I get after the test? Is it just a book about me or an action plan?
You will receive a personalized "instruction manual for your own body." This is not just a list of risks and genetic variants, but specific recommendations: which foods may be healthier for you, which workouts may be more effective, and which health indicators you (and your doctor) should pay special attention to.
How long does it take to wait for the results?
The process usually takes 8 to 12 weeks (maximum term may take up to 16 weeks). The waiting time is due to the proper transportation of your sample to laboratories in Europe and the complex process of analyzing large arrays of your genetic code. Apixmed does not do "quick" tests of questionable quality — Apixmed provides the gold standard of world genetics.
Is my data secure? Who has access to my genetic code?
Your privacy is our highest priority. Samples are deidentified (assigned a unique barcode without a name). We do not share or sell genetic data to pharmaceutical companies, insurance agencies, or any other third-party organizations, individuals, etc. You are the sole owner of your information.
Founder of Apixmed, PhD candidate in the field of personalized medicine and data analysis
We are used to focusing on universal health advice, but it does not always take into account the individual characteristics of a person and therefore does not always give the expected result.
For us at Apixmed Prism, it is important that recommendations based on DNA analysis are not only scientifically sound, but also understandable, practically valuable, and take into account the individual characteristics of each person.
