IMPORTANT!
THE PRICE OF THE TEST INCLUDES A DNA SAMPLE COLLECTION KIT.
The Apixmed Prism Mental Health and Personality genetic test covers 39 markers across eleven areas of mental health, personality and well-being, including 38 complex markers and 1 individual genetic variant in one gene.
A DNA kit for collecting your saliva sample yourself is already included in the price of the test.
Genotyping of the sample in an accredited laboratory.
A report explaining 39 markers and genetic variants in plain language, with an interpretation of the results:
38 polygenic (complex) traits with an explanation of your individual result and what it means;
a genetic variant with an explanation of its possible biological significance.
Context for every marker: genetics is not considered in isolation from lifestyle, age, environment and other factors.
Personalized recommendations on nutrition, physical activity, sleep, lifestyle and preventive approaches.
The option of a consultation with an Apixmed Prism specialist based on your report results.
Pointers to potentially relevant laboratory or clinical parameters that you can discuss with your doctor.
Data protection in line with ISO 27001, GDPR and HIPAA standards.
The Mental Health and Personality genetic test covers eleven areas, within which it analyzes 38 complex markers and 1 individual genetic variant in one gene. The strongest evidence base here belongs to the combined predisposition score for affective and psychotic conditions; alongside it there is a separate area for positive psychological well-being, as well as creativity, loneliness and social interaction. The test assesses how your genetic profile is associated with a relatively higher or lower predisposition for each marker compared with a reference population. It does not measure any marker directly and is not a psychological or psychiatric assessment — instead it examines the stable genetic context that complements consultation with a therapist or psychiatrist rather than replacing it.
DNA sample collection is done using saliva. You receive the kit by post and collect your own DNA sample into a special tube — it takes just a few minutes and requires no preparation. The sample is then sent for analysis to an accredited laboratory, and you receive your result in digital format.
38 markers across eleven areas. Assessed using polygenic risk scores: tens and hundreds of variants together shape the contribution to a predisposition, and no single one of them determines the picture on its own.
Affective and psychotic conditions: depression, bipolar disorder, mania, mood instability, schizophrenia, psychosis
Anxiety and traumatic stress: anxiety, panic attacks, social anxiety, worry proneness, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)
Obsessive-compulsive spectrum: obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), hoarding symptoms
Personality disorders: antisocial personality disorder, borderline personality disorder, personality disorder
Emotional reactivity: anger, irritability, nervousness
Predisposition to self-harm: self-harm, suicidal ideation, suicide attempts, social interaction
Selected Big Five traits: conscientiousness, extraversion, neuroticism
Creativity and social functioning: creativity, loneliness, social interaction
Positive psychological well-being: subjective well-being, life satisfaction, positive affect, optimism
Risk-taking predisposition: boldness in decision-making, self-reported risky decisions, adventurousness
Neurotransmitter signaling: dopamine, serotonin
1 genetic variant in one gene. A mechanistic link to the trait is described for it, so it is interpreted individually and is not included in the complex markers. Mental health conditions and personality traits are the clearest example of polygenicity: no single gene here has a decisive influence, and the predisposition is shaped by thousands of variants, each contributing a small amount. That is why complex markers form the basis of this report, and the only marker described individually is BDNF, whose effect on neuroplasticity is the most thoroughly studied.
BDNF: brain-derived neurotrophic factor, associated with neuroplasticity, emotional regulation and stress resilience
Interest in self-knowledge: genetic context on personality traits and emotional reactivity.
Managing stress: additional context for a conversation with a therapist about resilience strategies.
Family history of affective disorders: specific topics to discuss with a psychiatrist.
When choosing supplements: a reason to discuss whether they are appropriate with your doctor, not grounds to change anything on your own.
The Mental Health and Personality test is not a diagnosis and does not replace consultation with a doctor.
The results assess probability rather than establishing a predetermined outcome. They are not a diagnosis, psychological testing or an assessment of mental state, do not confirm a disorder and do not determine treatment. The test does not replace consultation with a therapist or psychiatrist. Clinical decisions are made by a specialist, taking into account your history, symptoms, diet, age, medication and clinical assessment. If you or someone close to you is having thoughts of self-harm, seek help: the national suicide prevention line Lifeline Ukraine, number 7333, free and available around the clock, or the nearest emergency medical facility. The genetic report is not a tool for assessing your current state and is not intended for that purpose.
